Sampson and Ivana

Ed Hick and Grace Carroll teamed up in 2011 to create a 10-min screenplay which is now known as Repossessing Tim. Somewhere along the way they discovered they both have interesting middle names and so Sampson & Ivana Pictures was born.

Ed Hick is a filmmaker, student, and Steve Zissou enthusiast currently in his final year of studying Film at University College Falmouth.

He has directed several films in the past, including My Best Friend is a Superhero and Don’t be Ashamed of Your Own Ideas (which was screened at the Cornish Film Festival in 2010). He is currently co-directing surreal YouTube shorts for MediaGlove. He has also produced a ten-minute short film (Black Monday), and was team leader of a film crew at two festivals in 2011 (Sunrise, Green Gathering).

Grace Carroll
My name is Grace Carroll, and I am a dedicated scriptwriter. I come from a bit of a dodgy part of North West London, and am currently studying Film at University College Falmouth in Cornwall.
I started writing aged nine when I made up a story about a girl who keeps her best friend under the stairs, because her parents are secret agents who have been kidnapped, and I pretty much haven’t stopped writing since.

I haven’t had a lot of professional practice and haven’t got any fancy awards or anything but am wholly dedicated to developing my writing skills in my spare time. I have written five short films, a television pilot, and am currently working on a feature screenplay. My scripts are mostly character driven, heavily influenced by fantasy and comedy and have a lot of wordy dialogue (I like old movies where they don’t have any special effects or action, and whole scenes are just about these two characters talking, mainly a female and a male arguing).
This is all I’ve ever really wanted to do, and if I could make this film it would give me a chance to showcase my talent and let other people experience my writing, at the moment it’s mainly just me, and occasionally I read bits out to my cat, who seems to be a fan.
