Day Two - A Rainy Day in the Quarry

©Jessica Morris

For the second day of the shoot we were on location at Wheal Maid, a quarry just outside Redruth. Being on location meant we lost all the controllability we had in the studio. So for both days we had to put up with noise from chickens, motorbikes and children. Through day one it also rained and slowly got worse throughout the day. But thanks to great cast and crew we managed to get all the shots we wanted for that day. Dan Richards and Charlotte Bister (Nelly) were great sports for sticking it out in the rain, especially at the end of the day when they were soaked through.

We were able to warm up a bit when my friend Ed Stone (who did the catering) brought down a lovely chilli for all the cast and crew’s lunch. Aside from the rain it was good day, and it was good to see the famous ‘Orangina’ scene were Tim meets Nelly. Charlotte and Dan run their own theatre company (Owdyado Theatre) so they worked well together and kept each other’s spirits high throughout the shoot.

Day One of the Shoot- In the Studio

Thursday, 9 February 2012

So I haven’t posted in a while because we have been very busy recently as we shot and wrapped the film this weekend. It was amazing and long couple of days and looking through the rushes the film is looking great.

For the first day of the shoot we were in the TV Studio filming the first part of the film, the Arcadia part. I have never really shot in a studio before and it was so nice to have such a controlled environment and not having to worry about external noise, light changes and all the other hassle you get on location.

Josie, our Art Director, had built a great looking set which we managed to rebuild throughout the day to make three different rooms. We were so efficient at rebuilding the set we managed to finish the shoot two hours earlier than expected.

Our actors Daniel Richards (Tim) and Rory Wilton (Banker, Sectary, Senior Banker and Security Guard) were both great on and off screen. And I have to give a big thank you to Rory for shaving of his entire beard and suiting up in a fine lady’s dress. Due to great acting we managed to keep the take count on each shot down, so we kept to schedule, which made Assistant Director Nick happy.
